Letters to the Editor from Members

A Letter to the Editor of a newspaper is an important way to communicate your position to the  thousands who subscribe to the printed edition or on line.

Each newspaper has different criteria for letters they publish.

Below are the guidelines used by some of the local papers.

Follow the rules closely when submitting a letter.  Since most have on line submission, a good tip is to write the letter in your Word Processing software, then perform a spell check and word or character count as required.  When you are satisfied with your work, copy and paste into the form provided by the newspaper.

Also Worth Noting

Many newspapers  provide a comment section in the on line section of the letters to the editor.

Expect that your letters may be challenged.

Challenging and refuting letters written by others is also a way to make your point.
