The note last night about missing CPAC this year continues with a short tale of my travels around Horry County and to Columbia.
In Loris this morning, the Northern Horry County Republican Club meet to have their monthly meeting. Mike was kind enough to invite me to speak to his group our my running for the Horry County Vice Chair seat in the upcoming County elections. Since I was in his house, I kept it short and sweet. With both Mike and I running for the same position it is a win-win for the County RNC with either candidate winning. My main point was that everyone in the room should be proud to be part of the process of taking an active part in the party of their choice to hold “folks feet to the fire” of our elected officials both in the party and in the Cities, County, and State government by becoming Executive Committeemen for their Precincts. It was a bit longer than those two sentences, but that is it in a nutshell.
Then it was a trip to Columbia for the State Leadership Council meeting. The event in Loris was to conclude with a phone bank effort to call voter vault folks to make them aware of the upcoming Precinct/County election process. Therefore, I was the only representative from Horry County in the room – and I arrived some 30 minutes late because the Loris meeting with the main speaker Rep. Thad Viers had run over and was still going when I left at 11am plus on I-26 there was a NASCAR event that back up traffic for miles (aka a wreck) one exit before I needed to get off to make the meeting. I know excuses, excuses… *smile*
Very Briefly, the Leadership meeting in Columbia had some thirty plus representatives from across our State of South Carolina gathered to discuss the formation of the NCC (Non-Candidate Committee) and exchange information from the various action items the groups were working on together and separately. One major telling point I noticed from the various groups is that there is a lot, and I mean a lot, of activity that the press is not reporting that is happening in our State that is rattling the cages and scaring the poop out of the elected officials as we all are working to “hold their feet to the fire” of smaller government, less regulations, sound money, fair tax, accountability, transparency (Roll Call Voting), and being fiscally restrained while making our State a magnet for businesses. It was very clear that some State Representatives and Senators across the State take their constituents serious when request are presented and some still cling to the “elitist” (aka holier than tho) attitude. The unresponsive are being targeted for removal in 2012 and the NCC will/may allow for us to all come together to show Columbia the TEA Party/Liberty/Patriot Groups mean business when we say “We Are Watching YOU!”
There was a short exchange about the fact that the new team of folks in DC all voted for the extension of the PATRIOT Act (parts) and none were happy about that fact. It was the general talk that we elected folks to go to Washington to be leaders and stand up for us and if they don’t the backbone to do so, then in 2012 they will be targets to send home as one-term Representatives. On that note, it was rather refreshing to come home tonight and review the MoxNewsDotCom YouTubes and see this video of the results of the CPAC Straw Poll. Here is the Video:

Above is the PDF of the slide presentation associated with the reading. You can open the PDF and listen to the video while seeing the visual if you want, or watch the video then read the visual.
The key slide was the “What can Congress get done?” that our South Carolina US House Representatives should take a strong look at and consider if they want to be a one term Represenative, imho.

Key Points from the Video:
- This was the largest participation of CPAC attendees to actually vote in the Straw Poll ever before at CPAC
- The number of votes doubled the number last year.
- The break down in demographics matched the prior year’s demographics.
- The two big losers of what Congress can get done were “Repealing Obamacare”, and “Paying down the National Debt”
- The creator of Massachusetts’ mini-Obamacare, Mitt Romney, LOST to Dr. Ron Paul the consistent Congressman since 1976 in reduction of Federal Government size/control over our liberties.
The day was a win-win-win for me in the State and at CPAC.
God Bless the Awakening in our Nation and folks like you that are willing to stand up for our Constitution.
PS. We really need to turn up the heat on our Senators to strip the Senate amendment S288 out of H3004 so that Roll Call voting becomes effective with the signing of the Governor’s signature of the passed version and not wait till “hell freezes over” to track our elected servant’s votes in Columbia.
PSS. Um I really enjoyed this video (in full) of the Herman Cain speech at CPAC. What are your thoughts?
PSSS. Here was another video from CPAC that really touched on my upbringings – if you can’t afford it then you can not buy it.
