United State “True” National Debt

I hope you all are as excited as I am about our trip to DC this weekend. The getting up at O’Dark Hundred blows chez, but it is what it is.

Remember our Service Men and Women! Pray for their safe return and pray for their loved ones at home to be comforted.

Here is an old tune to share with ya that was brought up on SNOB (Sun News Online Blog) today.

TALKING OLD SOLDIERS
Elton John
Tumbleweed Connection (1970)

Why hello
Say can I buy you another glass of beer
Well thanks a lot, that’s kind of you
It’s nice to know you care
These days there’s so much going on
No one seems to want to know
I may be just an old soldier to some
But I know how it feels to grow old

Yeah that’s right

You can see me here most every night
You’ll always see me staring at the wall and the lights
Funny I remember oh its years ago id say
I’d stand at the bar with my friends who’ve passed away
And drink three times the beer that I can drink today
Yes I know how it feels to grow old

I know what they’re saying son
there goes old mad Joe again
Well I maybe mad at that I’ve seen enough
To make a man go out his brain
Well do they know what it’s like to have a grave yard as a friend
’cause that’s where they are boy all of them
Don’t seem likely that ill get friends like that again

Well its time I’ve moved off

It’s been great just listening to you
And I might even see you the next time I’m passing through
You’re right there’s so much going on
No one seems to want to know
So keep well, keep well old friend
And have another drink on me
Just ignore all the others
You’ve got your memories
You’ve got your memories

It’s almost time and we wanted to remind you of a few things. Letters were emailed to all of you on August 10th telling you which bus you were on and what time it would be leaving. If for some reason you can’t find it, please let Janet or me know so we can resend it to you.

The bus on the South end, which is departing from the Wal-Mart on 501 near Carolina Forest in Conway, will board at 7:15am and depart at 7:45am.

The bus on the North end, will depart from the Wal-Mart near the Tanger Outlet Stores at highways 17 & 22. You will board at 7:00am and depart at 7:30am.

In the letter we sent out was a list of things you might want to bring on the trip. Now is the time to start gathering things together to make sure you don’t forget anything.

We will need to have each of you sign a waiver before you board the bus to go on the trip. Some of you already signed the waiver at our last meeting. It’s just a formality, but it releases the “Carolina Patriots” from any damages that could occur while on the trip. Someone will be passing out the waivers at each bus and checking off your name.

We look forward to seeing you all in a few days.

You will have our prayers right there with you! The song caused me to “mist-up” a bit. I know it may be for the old soldier, but it touches the heart’s chord for this old “warrior” of sorts. Oh, my Elton John has changed. Rush Limbaugh even had him sing at his wedding. Thank you Daniel. You do a body proud.
